Westcon Mexico to Distribute Fortinet Security Solutions

Mexico City, March 23, 2009 – Westcon Group, Inc., the leading specialty distributor in networking, convergence, security and mobility, announced that it is extending its Brazilian agreement with Fortinet into the Mexican reseller market. Fortinet, a US-based provider of Unified Threat Management (UTM) security systems and the only provider of ASIC-accelerated, firewall, and antivirus systems for real-time network protection, will also participate in Westcon Mexico’s SecurityPoint program.

Westcon Mexico, which will launch its SecurityPoint program in the coming weeks, has been proactively educating its reseller base about the growing threats and vulnerabilities corporations face today. SecurityPoint, which is already successful in many regions around the world, is designed to support resellers by providing comprehensive security solutions, sales tools, focused training, market analysis and a portfolio of industry leading security products.

“Through this extended agreement, Westcon Mexico is able to address one of the most pressing needs in business today: protecting enterprise networks against Internet-borne attacks and harmful content,” said Enrique Leiva, General Manager of Westcon Mexico. “By carrying FortiGate solutions and integrating Fortinet into our forthcoming SecurityPoint program, we are enabling Mexican resellers to scale opportunities and deliver comprehensive network protection.”

FortiGate’s antivirus and firewalls are based on an innovative architecture specifically developed to provide real-time security at the application and content processing service level and the network level. All FortiGate family products operate with a Fortinet proprietary content processing chip or FortiASICTM, and the FortiOSTM operating system, offering an excellent price/performance ratio.

“We are pleased to have Westcon as our distributor in Mexico. The exclusive ASIC-based antivirus / firewall technology used in Fortinet’s products, combined with Westcon’s experience in delivering network security solutions, will play a major role towards increasing our market share in Mexico, said Joel Guerrero, Territory Account Manager for Fortinet Mexico.

“These days, enterprises have information traveling freely both inside and outside their network infrastructures. By working with Westcon, we are able to implement security solutions that our customers can be confident about. The Fortinet product line helps us deliver real-time network protection and helps the entire process of planning security solutions become more seamless,” says Horacio Madríd, CEO of EMH, a Westcon México partner.
